Scholarship Eligibility

Essential criteria:

• Citizenship: Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
• Academic status: Transitioning to Massey University from secondary school.
• Enrolment: Intending to enrol full-time (minimum 105 credits) in the first year of a Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Accountancy.
• Academic achievement: Attained an NCEA Level 2 Certificate with a merit endorsement or better (or equivalent qualification for non-NCEA applicants).
• Leadership: Undertaken leadership roles in school academic or cultural groups, captain of a school sports team, or leadership roles within a community group or organisation.

• Personal statement on leadership experience

Application Procedure

1. Check eligibility – Ensure you meet all criteria: NZ citizen/permanent resident, secondary school leaver, enrolling in BBus or BAcc, and NCEA Level 2 Merit or equivalent.
2. Prepare required documents – Gather the following:
   • Secondary school transcripts – If studying NCEA, attach your School Results Summary from the NZQA website (secure.nzqa.govt.nz).
   • Personal statement – Maximum one page outlining your motivation to study business, career aspirations, leadership experience (with emphasis on responsibility and impact), extracurricular and community activities, and any personal context demonstrating resilience or leadership potential.
   • Reference letter – Maximum one page speaking to your academic achievements or leadership experience.
3. Submit your application – Apply online through the Massey University scholarship portal by 1 September 2026.
4. Selection process – The selection committee considers secondary school results, especially in business/commerce subjects, your leadership statement, and your reference.
5. Notification – Successful applicants are notified of the outcome.
