Scholarship Description

The Colorado Association of Biomedical Equipment Technicians (CABMET) is a non-profit organization comprised entirely of unpaid volunteers dedicated to better patient care through the advancement of Biomedical Equipment Technology. The association encourages a free exchange of information between BMETs, hospitals, and vendors. CABMET seeks to promote education in STEM fields and the recruitment of talented STEM students into the healthcare technology field.

The CABMET STEM Scholarship is a $500 award presented annually to a deserving student pursuing a degree in a STEM field closely related to healthcare technology. The scholarship is awarded based on a combination of factors, including GPA, course load, relevance of major, and participation in CABMET functions.

Scholarship Location

The scholarship is open to students in Colorado. The award is presented at a CABMET Reception at the AAMI eXchange or at one of CABMET's upcoming meetings in Colorado. CABMET is based in Denver, Colorado.

Scholarship Amount

Scholarship Eligibility

Essential criteria:

• CABMET participation: Student must attend at least one CABMET function (Meetings, Volunteer Work Days, etc.) during the prior twelve months.
• Attendance at awards ceremony: Must be present at the awards ceremony to receive the award.
• Course load: Must have attended school for at least six credit hours during one semester of the past twelve months.
• GPA: Minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Major: Must be enrolled in a degree program closely related to: Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, Database Administration, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Automation, Electronics Technology, or IoT.

Determination of eligibility: Relevance of the student's degree to the required areas of study will be determined solely by the Officers of CABMET.

Application Procedure

1. Attend CABMET events – Students must attend at least one CABMET function (Meetings, Volunteer Work Days, etc.) during the prior twelve months. View all events on the CABMET website.
2. Check eligibility – Ensure you meet all criteria: Colorado student, 2.0+ GPA, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, and majoring in an eligible STEM field.
3. Prepare application materials – Gather your academic records, proof of CABMET participation, and any required application forms.
4. Submit your application – Applications are submitted through the CABMET website during the open application period.
5. Selection process – Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of GPA, course load, relevance of major, and CABMET participation.
6. Award ceremony – Winners must be present at the CABMET Reception or meeting to receive the award.
