Scholarship Description

The University of Mount Union Esports Scholarship offers students the opportunity to turn their passion for competitive gaming into a college scholarship. Mount Union's Esports Program, which debuted in 2019, was the first program in Stark County to offer scholarships to esports athletes. The program features five dedicated varsity teams competing in League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros.: Ultimate, Valorant, Marvel Rivals, and Mario Kart World.

Mount Union welcomes all students regardless of their major. In addition to players, the program offers opportunities for students interested in broadcast and production roles, including commentators, livestream operators, and managers. The university has built a state-of-the-art, dedicated esports facility on campus with 24/7 access, high-performance PCs, and production capabilities.

Scholarship Location

The scholarship is tenable at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. The university's esports facility is located on campus and features arena-style gaming spaces with high-performance equipment.

Scholarship Deadline

Esports scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis as part of the admissions process. Prospective students are encouraged to apply for admission to Mount Union and indicate their interest in the esports program.

Non-player opportunities:

• Students interested in production, broadcasting, and management roles can join the program even if not players.
• These roles include commentators, livestream operators, and team managers.
